Palo Duro Canyon State Park

Texas is home to countless natural wonders, including Palo Duro Canyon, the second largest canyon in the United States. Found just outside Amarillo, Palo Duro Canyon State Park is ideal for bird watching, mountain biking, and horseback riding. There’s even an amphitheater nestled in a natural basin that serves as the venue for TEXAS – an annual summer-time musical that draws crowds from all over.

Cascade Caverns

If it’s spelunking you’re after, head to Cascade Caverns, found along the edge of Texas’ Hill Country, to see cave formations a million years in the making. Inside, you’ll find the Diamond Ceiling, studded with millions of glistening water drops, and the Cathedral Room, housing a 90-foot waterfall. And don’t be surprised to see some unusual creatures – the caverns attract the likes of leopard frogs, salamanders, and Mexican brown bats.

Big Bend National Park

On the western edge of Texas, lies Big Bend National Park, comprised of a sprawling 801,163 acres of land. Travel along the Rio Grande River to see spectacular canyons, walk through the Chihuahuan Desert, or hike the forests of the Chisos Mountains.
