Matadors, Spain

Matadors observe a one-minute moment of silence before a bullfight at the Real Maestranza bullring in Seville, Spain. Built beginning in 1761, the bullring is the oldest in Spain and a landmark in the Andalusian capital. It served as the setting of Carmen's death in Georges Bizet's celebrated opera (and the novella that preceded it)—a statue of the tragic heroine stands nearby.
